The winner of the Wooden and Naismith Awards in 1998 and the only UNC player other than Michael Jordan to earn AP Player of the Year honors, Antawn Jamison is one of the NBA's top stars.

Antawn has played for the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards. He has played in 376 straight games which is tops amoung all current NBA players. He has career averages of 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

We’re executing a program for Antawn called “A Better Tomorrow.” It is focused on promoting academic excellence and helping those less fortunate in his hometown of Charlotte, NC and his new home community in Washington, DC. We have also developed and manage Antawn’s website and fan club: antawnjamison.com and “Antawn’s Army.”

On Friday, November 22, 2002, Antawn joined Jerry Stackhouse in providing turkeys for the 2002 UNC Men’s Basketball team to distribute to the Ronald McDonald House and IFC Shelter. 4ourFans accompanied UNC Coach Matt Doherty, the players and the other members of the coaching staff as they signed autographs and gave out posters.

Our next project through Antawn’s “A Better Tomorrow” campaign was a program that was originally started by Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets owner George Shinn back in 1988. Shinn provided 300 pairs of shoes to the men at the Uptown Shelter on Christmas Eve for the past 13 years. With the Hornets and Shinn’s departure to New Orleans, we discovered the program would no longer be carried out and decided to persuade Antawn to maintain the tradition for his hometown.

On December 23 2002, we purchased 300 pairs of shoes (approximately $4,000.00) for Antawn and distributed them to the men at the Uptown Shelter. Two Charlotte television news’ stations covered this event. It was also featured by the Associate Press, which provided it with national coverage as well as all of the local Charlotte newspapers. Additionally, it was also featured on the UNC official athletic website, as well as Foxsports.com.

On May 19, 2003, we helped Antawn present his first annual Antawn C. Jamison Scholarship to Chase Laws and Ashley Jefferson, two students from his former high school, Providence High. The need-based scholarships were awarded to the two college bound Providence High basketball players. The students were in good academic standing and displayed great citizenship at all times. The total amount of each scholarship is $4,000.00. The recipients will collect $1,000.00 each year that they enroll in college for a total of four years. The Principal, Athletic Director, and coaches of the basketball teams made up the scholarship selection committee.

Also on May 19, 2003, we began a pilot program for Antawn called "Antawn's Extra Effort Awards" with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system that rewarded about 200 students in six schools (Middle and High Schools) for their dedication and hard work. The schools involved in the program were: Providence High, Olympic High, Garinger High, Marie G. Davis Middle, Eastway Middle and Kennedy Middle. We rewarded all recipients with pizza parties, autographed certificates and recognition on his personal website (www.antawnjamison.com).

On July 9, 2003, while searching for community building projects for Antawn to support in Charlotte, we discovered a family (Suzette and Samuel Scott) who were desperately trying to raise money to have the second half of the Habitat House built. We informed Antawn of their need and he immediately decided to help out. A typical Habitat home costs about $48,000 to erect, however the Scott’s home, which was dubbed “The Pastor’s House” because several different churches and individuals were involved in donating and building the structure, had only raised about $20,000. Builders had to stop working on the house numerous times because of lack of funds, which they attributed to the poor economy. We accompanied Antawn as he went to the Scott’s new home and personally presented them with a check for $20,000 to fully fund the second half of their house.

On August 12, 2003, Antawn was presented with the NBA Community Assist Award. He will be presented with the David Robinson Plaque on October 25, 2003 during the Dallas Mavericks’ Fan appreciation celebration. We are proud to say that our services helped Antawn garner this award.

On November 17th through the 25th, Antawn gave $10,000 to match teammates Michael Finley and Antoine Walker’s donations for Finley’s Buckets for Hunger Thanksgiving Challenge benefiting the North Texas Food Bank. As a result of donations from the Mavs and fans, $109,697.70 was raised. This is equivalent to over 750,000 pounds or approximately 20 tractor-trailers of food to feed North Texas families.

On November 26, 2003, Antawn joined Jerry Stackhouse for the second consecutive year in providing turkeys and other Thanksgiving supplies for the UNC Men’s Basketball team to distribute to Chapel Hill’s Ronald McDonald House and IFC Shelter. 4ourFans accompanied UNC Coach Roy Williams, the players and the other members of the coaching staff as they signed autographs and gave out posters.

On December 22, 2003, Antawn helped sponsor a program with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Explorer program that provided Christmas packages for about 700 needy families. The packages, which were delivered to the families by the Police, Fire Dept. and various volunteers, contained food, gifts and flowers. The Police Explorer Program had executed this project for the last 29 years, but was having a hard getting funding for this year's event. After being informed of the problems with donations, Antawn gave approximately $5,500 to fund half of the project.

On December 23, 2003, Antawn helped fill the void left in Charlotte by George Shinn and the Hornets for the second consecutive year. Antawn donated the $5,000 that he received with his NBA Community Assist Award to the Uptown Shelter to provide shoes for over 300 of the men there. Again, Antawn could not attend due to his NBA schedule; however, his parents, siblings and Community Relations Manager were on hand to distribute the shoes on his behalf.

On March 20 2004, Antawn teamed up with Right Moves For Youth, a Charlotte nonprofit agency dedicated to reducing school drop-out, juvenile truancy, delinquency and violence in Mecklenburg County, to provide a March Madness Basketball, Cheerleading and Step tournament to reward and recognize club members who have shown marked improvement in their school attendance or maintained less than a 10% absenteeism rate throughout the school year.

In May 2004, Antawn sponsored his Extra Effort Awards in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system for the second consecutive year. He rewarded over 350 kids from the 14 Equity Plus Middle Schools in Charlotte for their hard work and dedication in and out of the classroom this year. All recipients were given pizza parties, autographed certificates and recognition on his website.

Also in May 2004, Antawn sponsored the Antawn C. Jamison Scholarship at his former high school (Providence High in Charlotte, NC) for the second consecutive year,. Although Antawn presented the scholarships at last year's ceremony, he was unable to present the scholarships this year due to a scheduling conflict. Providence High Men's basketball coach Byron Lowry presented the scholarships on Antawn's behalf. Congratulations to the 2004 Antawn C. Jamison Scholarship winners: Quentin Martin and Jasmine Morris!

On November 10, 2004, Antawn joined fellow Tar Heel Alums Jerry Stackhouse and Brendan Haywood in purchasing Thanksgiving supplies (14 turkeys, numerous bags of stuffing, cans of cranberry sauce and green beans) for the ESPN/USA Today’s Preseason Third Ranked UNC Men’s basketball team to distribute to the Ronald McDonald House and IFC Homeless Shelter (both of Chapel Hill).

On December 20, 2004, Antawn spent around $5,000 for the second straight year to help sponsor the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Explorer Christmas Project that provided holiday packages to over 650 needy families. The packages, which were delivered to the families by the Police, Fire Dept. and various volunteers, contained food, gifts and flowers.

On December 23, 2004, Antawn helped fill the void left in Charlotte by George Shinn and the
Hornets for the third consecutive year. Antawn donated $3,500 to the Uptown Shelter to
provide shoes for over 300 of the men there.
